About the Program
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Graduate Program in Administration (PPGA) at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) aims at preparing highly qualified professionals, at master’s and doctoral degree levels, committed to the advancement of knowledge for the practice of research, teaching and outreach activities in Administration. All activities are focused on the field of administration and management of public, private and civil society organizations.
The Graduate Program in Administration focuses specifically on: (1) developing a critical and renewed thinking in order to broaden political, philosophical and epistemological conceptions on the management of organizations, considering the trends of change in modern society; (2) stimulating and subsidizing the conduct of research that reflects the concern with the administrative and organizational development of public, private and third sector institutions; and (3) qualifying professionals with an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural vision for the practice of research, higher education and management of organizations.
The UFSC Master’s Program in Administration was created in 1978 and the Doctoral Program in 2008. Both programs are accredited by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and constitute the UFSC Graduate Program in Administration (PPGA-UFSC). The quality of the program is recognized by the main research funding agencies in Brazil. The PPGA provides adequate infrastructure, in addition to the facilities available at UFSC, to effectively support the teaching and research activities of its researchers, professors and students.
The program is affiliated with the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Administration (ANPAD) and is guided in general lines by the requirements of the National Education Council (CNE), the guidelines of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the Regulation on Graduate Studies at UFSC (Resolution 095/CUN/2017). The organization of the program aims at combining the specific qualification of faculty members with the research interests of master’s and doctoral students in a program focused on the development of a critical and renewed administrative thinking, aimed at the investigation of the organizational phenomenon.
The program is currently grade 4 (out of 7) in CAPES evaluation.
